v1.16.2 — StarNav 2002 Scanner

v1.16.2 — StarNav 2002 Scanner

April 23, 2026

v1.16.2 introduces StarNav 2002, a new ship scanner upgrade path, and includes the follow-up improvements needed to make the scanner feel like a real navigation instrument.

Install StarNav 2002 in the TriStar Shipyard, upgrade it across five levels, and use the Nav screen to read nearby sectors with much better clarity.

StarNav 2002 in the TriStar Shipyard

Ships can now install StarNav 2002 as a dedicated upgrade in the TriStar Shipyard.

StarNav follows a ship-based progression model, so the scanner stays tied to the ship you invest in.

Five Levels of Scanner Progression

StarNav 2002 scales across five levels instead of acting like a flat utility.

As you invest more credits and XP, the scanner expands both its range and the level of detail it can reveal.

5500,000 credits100,000 XP3 hopsFull 1-hop and 2-hop intel, 3-hop POI intel

The total investment from Level 1 through Level 5 is 1,500,000 credits.

Basic detection shows nearby sectors. POI intel adds nearby ports, planets, starports, and contact activity. Full intel gives the clearest scanner readout for that hop distance.

Spatial Scanner Map on the Nav Screen

The Nav scanner now renders as a spatial 2D star map instead of a horizontal row of sector blocks.

Your current sector is centered with a ship marker, neighboring sectors are arranged around it based on galaxy direction, and dashed warp lines plus range rings make local space easier to read at a glance.

Dense-Sector Full-Screen View

Crowded scanner results can expand into a full-screen map modal with pinch zoom, pan, and sector detail inspection.

The scanner still preserves the no-direct-warp interaction rule: tapping a sector opens details, while the existing Warp to controls remain below the scanner.

Better Nearby Sector Intel

The scanner can show nearby sectors, ports, planets, starports, and contact activity with increasing detail as your StarNav level improves.

POI icons now render inside sector circles on the scanner map so the view works as a navigation display, not just a list.

Correct Upgrade Price and XP Display

This release also fixes StarNav 2002 upgrade purchase details.

The upgrade UI now shows the intended base sticker price and reads player XP from the correct profile field, so upgrade eligibility reflects the real account state.
