v1.4.0 is a significant overhaul of the combat system and how you manage your ship’s weapons and defenses.

Attack vs Defense

Combat power is now split into separate attack and defense calculations.

Shields are pure defense. They have no effect on your attack power — only on how hard you are to damage or disable.

Fighters are pure attack. They deal damage but contribute nothing to your defense.

Torpedoes are pure attack with a heavier punch than fighters. One torpedo is worth roughly 2.5 fighters in attack power, but costs twice as much to purchase.

Repair Only Restores Shields

Ship repair at a starport or port now only restores shields. Fighters and torpedoes are consumables that get spent in battle — they must be re-purchased at a starport.

Buy Weapons in Bulk

Fighter Bay and Torpedo Bay at starports now let you buy any quantity at once instead of one at a time. Prices are flat per unit — 75 credits per fighter, 150 credits per torpedo. You cannot exceed your ship’s maximum capacity.

Ship Stats Screen Redesigned

The Ship Stats screen has been reorganized with two new tables:

Defense — shows your current and maximum shields with your total defense rating.

Attack — shows your current and maximum fighters and torpedoes with your total attack rating.

The Escape Rating is now shown inside the Combat Power card. The redundant Holds card has been removed — cargo capacity is already displayed in the Cargo Hold section below.
